We have all sprung forward and now it is National Nap Day. Who knew? How long does it take for you to adjust to the time change? The good news is, it doesn't have to be a huge inconvenience for you. Here are some tips to help you this week as you adjust.
I've talked about change and comfort zones before on this page. If you stay in your comfort zone, you start to become stagnant and tend to plateau. I began to feel uninspired and... Stagnant. I felt as though I was not giving my all to my classes. If you know me or have been in my classes more than once (or twice), you will know that feeling is very important to me. I thrive knowing that my students know that I care about them. However, lately I have been feeling like I have been in a season of change. I am not sure what type of change I have needed.
I took some time this weekend to update my vision board. Instead of including longer term goals, I decided to include my goals for this year.
"Adios 2016!" I'm so glad to say those words! Whew... What. A. Year! Never have I been so happy to turn the page on the calendar than I have on this past year.
We are coming upon New Year's Eve and that tradition of making those New Year's resolutions. If you go back to my previous post, you will know how I feel about resolutions. I even urged my readers to start changing themselves before the New Year. According to http://www.statisticbrain.com, 45% of Americans make New Year's resolutions. According to Nielson, our friends that tell us everything about consumers, losing weight was the second most popular resolution being made; behind STAYING fit and healthy. I went on social media this morning and saw posts of friends receiving fitness gear and even gym memberships. Yay!!! However, I know of one tool that is going to be purchased and I have to tell you all to "DON'T DO IT!"
One of the bonuses of being a personal trainer and group fitness instructor is I get to hear all of your secrets. Now I am not to be confused with your lawyer or priest, make no mistake about that. Trust me. For example, when you skip class and go out for mimosas, I MAY call you out the following week in class if you are slacking. This season is the time of year that I tend to hear the same thing... "I've been so naughty this week."
Confession: I had three servings of dressing... Covered in gravy. Ten minutes later, I thought I was going to be sick. No, this wasn't the best decision, but this past June I was thinking about this meal. I was saddened because I just knew that while everyone was feasting on their traditional Thanksgiving feast, I would be stuck with a plate of green beans, corn and maybe a salad.
It has been just over a year since my FOCUS has been on PASSION. Although, I sprinkle it throughout entries, I have not really dedicated an entry on the importance of passion. I ran across a quote this week and it just made me smile. "Passion is the GENESIS of genius." - Galileo Galilei
Stress... It is EVERYWHERE! It is in our jobs, our schools and definitely on our roadways... Can I get an AMEN? My poor baby boy was in tears last night as we were going through his homework because he could not remember what needed to be turned in and what was work that needed to be done at school. That's when I knew it had been way too long since our last meditation session. Yes... My ten-year old meditates. He has actually been doing it for over a year.
